  • Extended time talking to clients about their pet's condition
  • Routine examinations and testing
  • Regular vaccinations
  • Nutritional and behavioral counseling
  • Acupuncture and electrostimulation
  • Cutting-edge surgical care

We use state of the art:

  • Digital radiography
  • In-house computerized laboratory equipment
  • Digital ultrasonography

We seek complete education of pet parents about all aspects of health throughout all stages of your animal's life.  We also recommend healthcare insurance coverage for your animal companions to ensure the financial ability to deal with catastrophic conditions.

Why choose our practice to serve the healthcare needs of your animal companions?  Not all animal health practitioners are the same.  Please go to our Healthcare Services page to see why we are different!

We in the animal health profession have a moral obligation to advocate on behalf of those beings that cannot speak for themselves.  We strive to do everything in our power to enhance the lives and health of our patients.  We seek to promote the best possible quality of life through comprehensive prevention programs; to reduce or eliminate pain and suffering using state of the art treatment and medications during a disease process; and to humanely and compassionately end an animal's life should its quality be irreparably replaced by intractable pain or suffering.

All Creatures Animal Hospital is fully licensed by the Veterinary Medical Board of California.  All doctors are fully licensed by the Veterinary Medical Board and are registered with the Federal government's pharmaceutical agencies.  We employ state of the art equipment and medications to ensure that your animal family member receives the best health care possible. We will be pleased to arrange a tour of our facilities at a time mutually convenient to you and our patients.

Susan E. Garlinghouse, DVM graduated from the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine, a top ten veterinary school in the nationAfter graduation, she spent several happy years in an ambulatory equine practice before joining All Creatures Animal Hospital first as an associate veterinarian, and then practice owner.   She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the California Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Equine Practitioners.  Susan has authored numerous research studies and articles on animal nutrition and physiology, and is frequently sought as a speaker both nationally and internationally on these subjects.  Susan is also one of the few certified veterinary acupuncturists in the area, and is an adjunct professor of animal science at Cal Poly University and UC Davis through the distance-learning program.  Her pets include five dogs (two Border Collies, a Belgian Tervuren, a Siberian Husky, and a Smooth Collie, four of which are rescues), four cats, four horses, a mule and a dozen chickens.  She competes in and is a certified head veterinarian for endurance rides with her horses, and is also an advanced EAN scuba diver.  Her husband David is a Commander (Select) and commanding officer in the Navy Reserve and our Hospital Administrator.  Together, Susan and David enjoy traveling and taking ocean cruises whenever possible.

Elysa Braunstein, VMD was born and reared in New York until the age of seventeen, when she attended the undergraduate biology program at the University of Pennsylvania.  Following graduation, Dr. Braunstein traveled to the West Coast and completed a Master’s Degree in Anatomy before heading back to Pennsylvania for a veterinary doctorate from “Penn Vet."  The prestigious University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine has been a national Top Ten program since being established in 1887.  UPenn awards a Veterinary Medical Doctor degree, so you will note that Dr. Braunstein is a VMD rather than a DVM.  The degrees are equivalent doctorates.  Following her graduation with honors in 1993, Dr. Braunstein spent the following year in Los Angeles completing an internship in small animal surgery and emergency medicine under the tutelage of the world-renowned veterinary surgeon Larry Lippincott who, among his many accomplishments, cared for the 36 white tigers and 16 white lions owned by Siegfried and Roy.  Dr. Braunstein’s internship was followed by four years in a feline-only practice before joining the Pet Medical Center in Santa Monica, California in 1997.  In her spare time she enjoys endurance riding, (an interest she shares with Dr. Garlinghouse) on her three horses Gabe, Libby and Splendor and providing concierge services to her two birds, Dino and Bozo, and two cats, Termite and Cat.
